Next 2 transfer windows
What’s people thoughts on what we need in Jan and then again next Summer?

I was looking at it last night and possibly quite a bit to do again.

Fabianski possible last year
Randolph last year
Dawson wants to go up North
Ogbonna probably finished
Cresswell 33 in December and contract is up in 2023.
Rice - probably off to Chelsea
Lanzini - seems he is surplus now
Coventry- probably not going to make it

That’s 8 right there, plus Antonio will be 33.

I think Cresswell will get a year extension and Trott come in for Randolph, so maybe 6.

We also have some players out of form who would be good to upgrade.

Rob Newman needs to earn his money.

Unless Johnson or Coufal find the form we know they have in them, we need a right back too...

Breterton will be free in the summer.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
I'd look at Broja and Ivan Toney at Brentford, been saying this for over a year.

I'd also consider Eze at Palace, hasn't been used properly there, very talented and a good athlete.

Other than that I'd try to bring some talent in from the championship in January and see where it gets us by end of season.

I'd also like to see Antonio moved out wide and playing with Scamacca and more Flynn Downes please.

Sensible suggestions

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Gallagher and Broja in a part ex for Rice would both be home grown and I reckon Moyes will go back in for Aaron Wan Bissaka, then Trott to keep the quota up.

Ekwah with the U21s is homegrown then. Moved to Chelsea when he was 16 and us when he was 19.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Here is a reminder of what a homegrown player is. They do not need to be a British player. They can be an overseas player as long as they meet this criteria.

Definition. UEFA defines locally-trained or 'homegrown' players as those who, regardless of their nationality, have been trained by their club or by another club in the same national association for at least three years between the ages of 15 and 21

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Realistically for home grown players you are looking to the championship or perhaps players in the likes of Brentford, Palace or Fulham that want to move for better money and aspirations. Chelsea also have players on the fringes or out on loans that are decent.

Jonathan David said in a Sky interview that he couldn't say no to a "massive" club.

Pretty much asking us to sign him, right?

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Randolph is considered homegrown. I can't remember if the Irish aren't regarded as foreign or because he was developed in an English academy.

Hopefully it also means any promising youth we have is being considered for the first team.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Not only do we need young promising talent, ideally need them to be British too.

If Dawson, Randolph and Rice do go our homegrown quota will be non existent.

Guessing Randolph is a HG player.

Priority is a new manager. If we want to compete in this league. Quality is going up around us all the time - as much as we spent in the summer we have not kept pace.

Is it worth bringing in anyone, Moyes can't handle what he's got?

We need a world class manager to compliment our world class team in a world class stadium.

Will the board spend? Are they able to due to FFP?

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Priority has to be a keeper.

I mean, if Fabianski and Randolph are off and only Trott promoted, who is going to take that second GK space on the bench?

Top of the list has to be a new fucking manager.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
As Nagel has previous suggested, we're looking fucked for home grown players for next season.

These are the current ones:
Aaron Cresswell
Michail Antonio
Darren Randolph
Jarrod Bowen
Craig Dawson
Declan Rice
Ben Johnson
Conor Coventry
Flynn Downes

I can see not too many of them being here next season. We'll need to buy BRITISH this January and next summer. Moyes will likely leave it until end of next August though.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Kaiser - I completely agree with that, a proper Striker to either play with (never gonna happen) or compete with Scammaca.

Get Antonio out on the wing to push Bowen and have another forward option.

I think Moyes will go for Broja again in the summer, probably in a deal involving Rice.

CB is my other area of concern, if Dawson goes and Ogbonna still struggling after that big injury - with Aguerd coming back from surgery and Zouma’s knees some proper back up there would be good.

That’s what I’d want to address in Jan.

Then the summer is another mini rebuild.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
I'll agree that Kehrer is better at full-back than centre-back, but I suspect that time will find him out.

Lee Trundle 4:12 Tue Oct 25
Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Kehrer played right back for PSG last season, he's played in a Champions League final there and seems to be good enough to be Germany's first choice there.

I'm not buying it that he isn't good enough for us to be playing right back.
